Entrepreneurship is a mindset. It is aptly defined as the process to create and develop economic activity by blending risk-taking, creativity and innovation with sound management, within a new or an existing organisation. This mindset, coupled with a professional and structured approach multiplies the probability of success. Add to that an economy, in India, that is increasingly taking a prominent role in global enterprises, and we are faced with immense possibilities. With India playing an increasingly prominent role in the global arena, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial managers will have To be the major driving force in the emerging business landscape.

Our objective in this post graduate programme is precisely to foster this mindset and equip the participants to develop the required managerial skills to initiate and take the business organisations further. In today’s competitive scenario, professional approach and the right managerial skills are the two most important determinants of effectiveness and the resultant success. In this programme, budding and existing entrepreneurs would get professional inputs on conceiving, planning, establishing and growing a new enterprise; developing and managing the manpower, skilfully raising the required resources, appreciating the evolving trends in the marketplace and developing services and products to meet emerging needs. All in all, a comprehensive approach to professional business.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurial Management is launched with its unique pedagogy to address the increasingly acute need for these professional inputs.

The Objectives :
To develop competence to undertake entrepreneurial initiatives, either in setting up new businesses, expanding existing ventures or contributing to business development in a corporate environment.

Learning Outcomes :
On completion of the course, the participant shall be able to;

Comprehend the overall business scenario.
Analyse socio-economic developments and their implications on business ventures.
Identify business opportunities and conduct enquiry into their potential.
Frame goals and objectives of their business venture and structure a business plan.
Develop functional skills in the major management disciplines required to professionally run an organisation.

Programme Structure
Duration : One Year
Structure : 4 Terms each having 3 Courses + 1 Comprehensive Capstone Project (equivalent to one course)
A typical term : Each term will be of about 12 weeks duration and will have 12 days of campus immersion under faculty supervision. For the remaining period of the term the candidate will actively pursue project work at own work place under the guidance of the subject faculty.
One Course : 3 Credit Hours (One credit hour equals Ten contact hours)
Total credit requirement : 39 Credit hours

Pedagogy and Learning Resources
This programme is structured in a manner to combine intensive educational-cum-experiential dimensions in an effective learning exercise. This will be achieved through a mix of on-campus pedagogy and continuing organisational exposure.

In each term, the participants will have 12 days campus immersion and will be exposed to a variety of pedagogy consisting of simulation exercises, case analyses, industry presentations, lectures, discussions, assignments, projects, role plays etc. The classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with multimedia and audio-visual aids to facilitate the teaching-learning process.

After attending the classes in each term, the participants will be briefed on the projects (on the basis of the courses attended) that are required to be done. The participants would do the projects in their organization. During the course of project work, the participants will keep in touch with the faculty through e-mail, telephone, as well as in person, if location permits, which will ensure continuous learning. The participants would also be encouraged peer learning. At the end of each term, the participants will make presentations of the work done by them before the faculty.

The participants are encouraged to use the Library Resource Centre (LRC). Our centrally airconditioned and fully computerised LRC has an impressive collection of business databases, corporate annual reports, a collection of 400+ e-books, a large CD compilation and more than 25000 volumes. The library subscribes to a number of high-value electronic databases like EBSCO’s Business Source Complete, a database comprising of 8800 international periodicals; ABI Inform: Global, Trade and Industry; Elsevier’s Science Direct: Business, Management & Accuonting package; Emerald Full Text Database; Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy’s Prowess and Industry Analysis databases; Blackwell and OUP e-journals; ISI Emerging Markets; Magindia.com and Indiastat.com.

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must
Have a three-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Nirma University as eligible for Post-Graduate studies.
Be an entrepreneur. However the Director General (NU) can relax this stipulation in case of deserving cases (those who are likely to set up a new enterprise).
Be in the age group 25 years and above.

Admission
Applicants will be required to appear in a personal interview, where they are supposed to carry relevant documents to establish their entrepreneurial background. The selection will be based on the candidates’ performance in the interview as well as their entrepreneurial experience.

Course Fee
Course fee for programme is Rs. 80,000/-. This course fee includes cost of tuition, teaching materials, lunch and refreshments. The fee is payable in two equal instalments. The payment should be made in the form of Cheque or DD drawn in favour of ‘Institute of Management, Nirma University’ payable at Ahmedabad.

Transport Arrangement & Hostel Facility
The participants can avail the transport facility of the Institute to commute from the city. The transport facility will be provided if some minimum number of participants opt for it.

For the duration of the campus immersion during the terms, the candidates may request to stay in the hostel of the University, subject to availability of the rooms. This will be charged separately as per the hostel guidelines.
